Owner of the Church
Greetings from the Ownership Linkage Committee of your CGLCS Board of Directors, which includes Mari Fall, Kristen Haiduk and Ed Lamb.
Early this year, the voting members of CGLCS approved the move to the Policy Governance® Model. This exciting shift allows your board to provide strategic leadership in creating a roadmap for the future of CGLCS. In addition, it ensures accountability of Pastor Tim to the board, and of the board to the “ownership”. Therefore, one of your board's top priorities is to be the "linkage", or liaison, to the owners of the Church.
What is an Owner?
Simply, owners are people that care about the future of CGLCS; people who have a long-term perspective and investment in the benefits CGLCS provides to its members, attendees, and the community at-large (both local and global). YOU!
What is Ownership Linkage and Why is it Important?
A board needs to engage with the owners to really understand their values in order to govern well on their behalf. The purpose of ownership linkage is for us to listen to you, the owner, and to have a constructive dialogue around the Goals/Ends of CGLCS. (Ends are received benefits, to chosen recipients, at a determined cost/priority).
What can I expect as an Owner?
First, we want to hear from you. While we cannot speak to every owner personally, our goal is to meet with a good representation of people in person, and then in the near future establish “suggestion boxes” (both physical and electronic) to collect additional feedback from owners. Our goal is to not take up any additional time of yours, so we will be asking you to attend pre-existing meetings with a cross-section of ministries (women’s, men’s, La Mesa, school, and Journey Groups). In these short sessions, we’ll bring questions designed to kick off the dialog.
Second, the completion of the ownership linkage loop is you’ll get feedback! Starting next year at the Voters’ meeting in July, we will share with the owners what has been achieved on their behalf!
We’ll reiterate this message at our Voters’ meeting on August 18, 2019.
We are honored as a board to be accountable to you, our owners, as well as to God, our Chairman of the Board. Prayer is an integral part of our meetings to ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as well!
May God continue to bless CGLCS on our mission of making Jesus known!
