Mission Statement
Called by God to walk in the love of Christ, the Board of Social Ministry builds bridges of compassion and support to enrich the lives of those we serve.
 
Activities
We involve our members in gathering gifts for the needy at all levels.  Our Thanksgiving basket program benefiting the LCMS Hispanic Ministry in Phoenix has been well received for many years, and our Easter basket program and Christmas gift progrm are traditional outlets for congregational giving.
 
We recently added a Mothers' Day program to benefit the residents fo Autumn House, a domestic violence shelter in Mesa.  The Rev. Cristiano Artigas of the LCMS Hispanic Ministry is our guest presenter each October to kick off our Thanksgiving project.
 
We welcome additional members to our board, and are always glad to accept new projects and ideas for giving and outreach.  If you are interested in joining our ministry, feel free to contact Board Chair Aida Starkjohann at 480-380-6664.
